Munich is the largest airport closest to Kitzbühel and therefore offers the largest selection of flights and the best prices. The last time we looked, prices for a direct flight were approx. $1,300 – $1,400 CDN all taxes in.

Travelling by Car

An excellent motorway, highway and federal road network connects Austria with its neighbouring states. All main border check points are open day and night. In general, Austrian traffic regulations and traffic signals are similar to those in force in other European countries. Just remember that all Austrian motorways (‘Autobahn’) and ‘S’ roads are subject to toll.

You must display a Motorway Vignette on the inside of the windshield of your vehicle as you enter Austria. Failure to have one will mean a heavy, on-the-spot fine. Stickers can be obtained from the Austrian Automobile Clubs as well as post offices, newsagents and petrol stations. You can also purchase stickers in Austria’s neighboring countries at petrol stations, borders and Automobile Clubs. Cars rented in neighboring countries may or may not be equipped with the sticker. Please obtain one from your car rental agency.

Toll Sticker Prices 2014:

  • A twelve-month sticker for private cars and motorhomes up to 3.5t is EURO 82.70 and for motorcycles EURO 32.90
  • A two-month sticker for private cars and motorhomes up to 3.5t is EURO 24.80 and for motorcycles EURO 12.40
  • A 10-day sticker for private cars and motorhomes up to 3.5t is EURO 8.50 and for motorcycles EURO 4.90

    1. Maybe you’re wondering why Vienna and Linz are shown on the map?

Vienna is the capital city of Austria. It is also where Christina’s Mother is from. Her father is from Linz.

It is about a 2hr drive from Vienna to Linz and about 2½ hours from Linz to Kitzbühel.

      • I guess that your quiz is not for us Austrians ;-) but for all that are interested in knowing where Austria as the so called “Heart of Europe” is located …

    2. If you aren’t travelling on ‘points’ then you might want to ask your travel agent to investigate charter flights to Amsterdam. Amsterdam is a popular destination and you might get a good price. From there you can take a local carrier to Innsbruck or Salzburg.

    3. Stay away from the #crooks at #FlightHub !
They hosed friends of ours almost 4 digits for cancelling two tickets (for medical reasons) despite having purchased cancellation insurance. Worse than that, the amount they said they would charge for the cancellation has changed three times.
